In this section it's possible to find information and data
about the Vampire project.
The Vampire project, for the Catania Province, is dedicated
to the use of satellite data in the field of the Risk Fires
for the production of:
- Maps of the Burnt
- Hot Spots
- Maps of risk
Thanks to VAMPIRE they have been realized some GIS layers
containing data of the VV.FF. activities for 1999 and the
basic cartography.
Images Landsat TM have been acquired for the years 1996-1999.
Beginning from them, maps of the areas covered from the fire
have been create.
During 1999: on-line, through a process chain that it has
daily made to reach data regarding the Hot Spots from satellite
ERS-atrs to European Spaces Agency to Mestor, and off-line
for the previous years, data of the Hot Hpots have been inserted
inside the GIS system.
