In the applications development field of handled devices
platforms using Microsoft
Windows CE operating systems, Mestor has developed a Client/Server
application that combines delivery automation with GIS.
This product allows to assign some customer requests to handled
PC or pocket PC by their geographical localization
and to control constantly the deliveries status. The basic
concept is to subdivide all the customers in relation to their
geographical position. Each person who delivers the goods
is assigned to a particular zone and thus he can see, on his
own handled device, not only the customers directory but he
can also update the delivery status, inserting, just-in-time,
some additional data:
- Customer name
- Complete receiver address
- Other useful information relative
to the specific requirements of the PalmSEAT user
PalmSEAT is composed by two modules:
The server allows to select, using a GIS interface,
the customers of a specific zone and to assign them to a terminal
that can be connected to the server using an infra-red port
or a serial port. The terminals are equipped with PalmSEAT
client (PalmClient)
that allows dealers that are in the place to verify the customers
directory and the company to check the service efficiency,
registering automatically date and hour of the delivery. The
PalmClient module can optionally be connected with GPS
devices to permit the automatic geopositioning of the
delivery place and to update the geographical database.
